A history of bricks, mortar, and competition
Many sports missionaries in the world have been stating that the climate of international athletics is more developed now than ever before. Barriers are broken down for the sake of competition. People of all races, religions, cultures, social positions, and gender have a love for competitive athletics. Because of this, FSI's goal is to send out athletes who can show the love of Jesus to their particular sports opponents in other cultures. The platform that athletes have with other athletes is incredible. Although most athletes aren't known for their Christlikeness worldwide, our athletes can show the world that Jesus is real even in the lives of successful athletes.
Every year, Friendship Sports continues to spread the love of Jesus Christ to the nation of Honduras, Central America. With several projects underway, it seems like there's always something happening, even though our main focus has been a small town of less than 1,000 people. Jesus teaches to nurture relationships and disciple others to do so as well. This philosophy has led to the creation of churches, schools, and Camp Monte de Santidad.
Founded in 1986 by Jack King, Friendship Sports International began by leading sports teams abroad to share the gospel through the universal language of athletics. Over the years it has narrowed its focus to Honduras, Central America. In addition to sports teams, construction projects have also been a big focus.
Over the years, FSI has been led and directed by many individuals with a passion for missions work. Their love and devotion to God's purpose in Honduras has shaped the organization into what it is today. With the Lord's provision and direction, the board will continue to make intentional decisions that will bless God's children throughout Honduras, the United States, and the World.
God uses strong partnerships to bless His children. Friendship Sports has chosen to work alongside several churches, universities, individuals, and organizations.
