The Wallace Family

The Wallace’s lead the FSI ministry in Grand Rapids Michigan. The Wallace will also work to develop relationships with Cornerstone, Grand Rapids and beyond with FSI. God has really began to open doors of opportunity in Grand Rapids.

The Wallace’s relationship FSI began in 1995 when Matt went with FSI to Honduras with his college baseball team on a life-changing trip to play baseball and serve in ministry. Jim and Jenny King, the Directors of Friendship Sports, had a major impact on our lives both as mentors as a young married couple, and in our desires towards ministry. Recently opportunity has risen to partner with the Kings while serving here in the Midwest. We strongly believe in the work of FSI, which is to live out the great commission: Matthew 28:19-20 NLT “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” The focus is currently is on discipleship through missions. Monthly trips to Detroit and Grand Rapids as well as international trips to Haiti, Guatemala or Honduras are provided. Bible studies, speaking engagements, and mentorship are also an already established part of their ministry on the campus of Cornerstone University.

Cornerstone University

The opportunities of ministry at Cornerstone are immense. Some may be thinking, why a Christian college? The opportunities of ministry at Cornerstone are immense. Some may be thinking, why a Christian college? FSI believes it is one of the most important mission fields. This generation of believers are tomorrow's church leaders and they are faced with a crazy world to steer through. Students at a Christian college often come from a wide variety of backgrounds and are very open to spiritual growth. We desire to build relationships with students, and mentor and lead Bible studies as we strive to challenge them to develop a Scripture based Christian worldview. We desire to connect college students first and foremost to Jesus, and help them to understand their role in the church as His disciples, learning to live out the Acts 2:42 principals. We believe God has prepared us and is calling us directly to this task.

Grand Rapids Michigan

Opportunities are already forming through the education department at Cornerstone and a potential partnership with an inner-city ministry in Grand Rapids, Detroit, and beyond. This is just one example of the many possibilities ahead. There are also opportunities within the athletic program to partner with teams to do ministry, discipleship and potential international trips to places such as Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Guatemala. We are excited and empowered about what God has in store for us in this ministry. God has had His footprints all over this journey and we are looking for people to partner with us to help not only support us in this ministry, but directly support and impact the missions we will be connecting the college students to. Our ministry role with FSI in Grand Rapids will be starting late fall.
